The medical tests to which the Villarreal midfielder Vicente Iborra has undergone this Monday have confirmed that the Valencian player suffers a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and that he will have a minimum of six months off.
Iborra was injured
last Sunday in the match between his team and Real Betis
in an isolated play and after making a bad gesture when fighting for the ball.
After a first examination in which there was some optimism, the footballer woke up this Monday with an inflamed knee and the tests carried out have revealed the worst diagnosis.
The loss of Iborra is
a setback for Villarreal,
since the midfielder was right now
an untouchable for Emery and a benchmark in the team
as reflected by the fact that he has played all the games this season, starting in thirteen of the themselves.
The Valencian player began the campaign as a substitute, but after the defeat with Barcelona (the only one of the season) he became a starter until now.
The footballer will be operated on this Thursday by Dr. Ramón Cugat at the Quirónsalud hospital in Barcelona.
