The Finnish league has, after an autumn with many corona falls in the team, paused the game and is planned to resume on the second day of Christmas.
But then it will not look like it did before.
All players will then have a comprehensive visor for the helmets, to reduce the risk of infection spreading.
- Last summer there were signals that this should be considered and now it has been realized.
The players have committed to this if we can ensure that the virus does not spread and that opposing teams are not quarantined, says the league's competition director Arto I. Järvelä to the newspaper Iltalehti.
Has been discussed in Sweden
However, it is not something that is relevant in the SHL, despite the fact that the league has had a lot of problems with corona spread.
- At present, there is nothing that we are planning, says sports director Johan Hemlin to SVT Sport, but says that there has been talk before.
- It was discussed last summer, but then there was no support or anything that showed that it would help in any way.
