Osaka-based Suntory, a volleyball men's V-League 1st division = V1, has declined to participate in the All Japan Championship scheduled for this month because a total of four players and staff have been infected with the new coronavirus.

According to Suntory, on the 3rd of this month, one athlete complained of fever in the high 37s and underwent a PCR test at a medical institution. As a result, positive for the new coronavirus was confirmed on the 5th, two days later.

In response to this, a total of 28 athletes and staff who were judged to be close contacts of this athlete were inspected, and on the 8th, two new athletes and one staff member were confirmed to be infected.

Suntory has put all the players and staff on standby at home and declined to participate in the All Japan Championship scheduled in Tokyo from the 11th of this month.

On the other hand, regarding the V-League match, the match with Toray on the 5th and 6th of this month has already been canceled, but the next match will be next month, so we will judge by looking at the situation.

Suntory has finished 12 games so far in V1 and finished 3rd with 10 wins and 2 losses.
