IIHF President Fasel and Secretary-General Lichtner had a planned meeting with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk regarding the ongoing pandemic situation and, in particular, the 2021 World Cup.

But after both Fasel and Lichtner have now been found infected with covid-19 and have to isolate themselves for the next ten days, the meeting is postponed to the future.

The meeting was planned for December 11, but when it may be possible in the future is still unclear.

Anders Larsson, chairman of the Swedish Ice Hockey Association, has said in an earlier statement that he does not think the World Cup should be decided in Belarus.

This after information that elite athletes have been subjected to torture and ill-treatment when they went against Lukashenko.
