Trainer Diego Simeone of Atlético Madrid does not rule out that Luis Suárez can take action in the Champions League match with Bayern Munich on Tuesday evening.

The attacker, who tested positive for the corona virus two weeks ago, has not yet received the green light and is not included in the selection.

"The virus is unpredictable. Suárez may test negative on Tuesday and he can play. He has trained in the meantime, is fit and would like to help the team," said Simeone on Monday evening at his press conference before the home game with Bayern.

The 33-year-old Suárez tested positive for the corona virus during the international period in mid-November.

The Uruguayan therefore missed all the league matches won against his old club FC Barcelona (1-0) and Valencia (0-1) and last week's Champions League match with Lokomotiv Moscow (0-0).

Suárez's imminent return is a boost for Simeone.

The former Ajax player, who came over from Barcelona in the previous transfer period, already scored five goals and an assist in nine official games.

"We will have to wait and see. I spoke to Suárez on Sunday and then he felt good. The most important thing is that he is healthy. If he cannot take action on Tuesday, he will make his return on Saturday," said Simeone. referring to the competition match with Real Valladolid.

Atlético Madrid currently occupies the second place in group A with five points, two more than Lokomotiv Moscow and seven less than the already placed Bayern Munich.

Atlético-Bayern starts at 9 p.m. and Lokomotiv Moscow-Red Bull Salzburg at 6.55 p.m.

Salzburg only took one point in the first four games.
