When Andreas Granqvist returned to Helsingborg, he had a combined role as player and sports director.
The role of sports manager was then paused so that he could have full focus on being team captain.
But this season he has not been able to help on the pitch.
Chairman Azelius answers the question of what he knows about the future of "Granen".
- I know everything about it.
He has a contract that extends over another three years.
As long as he plays, he plays, and when he does not play, he is the sports director.
That he will remain in the club is clear, regardless of whether he is whole or not.
- I think that Andreas Granqvist can be the single most important person for Helsingborgs IF's future.

On or off the field?
- Now I actually think off plan.
It may be that the best thing I did as chairman of Helsingborgs IF was to bring home Andreas Granqvist.
The association will for a long time have an enormous benefit from him.
He is wise, he has contacts, he is sincere and he is well-liked.
He has all the prerequisites to be able to become one of the great football personalities in Swedish football, even when he puts his shoes and captain's tie on the shelf.
Will he be able to play when the season starts next season?
- My opinion is that Andreas Granqvist is extremely interested in stepping into the role of sports director.
At the same time he loves to play football and probably wants to give the European Championship 2021 the chance.
But my personal opinion is that as long as the European Championships are looming, he will play.
But as soon as the European Championships are over, either because he is not whole enough or because it has been played, he puts his shoes on the shelf.

How has it been now during the season? Has he been close to games?
- It has been a big disappointment.
He has been close so many times, but then it has attracted him in the stomach or in the groin.
It just proves that if he had been twelve years younger, it would have worked.
Age takes its toll.
When he has been full, there have been stops all the time.
It may be uncertain whether his body will allow him to play at a level needed for the Superettan and not least the national team.
- He was extremely hungry now the last matches, even though it hurt to play.
But he received advice from both the national team doctor and the HIF doctor.
To Helsingborgs Dagblad, Granqvist says that the degradation is a hard blow.
- Right now it's incredibly tough.
I came home to take us up in the Allsvenskan and make sure that HIF established itself.
Now we have to start again, and it feels hard, he tells the newspaper.
