The heads of the Olympic committees stressed the importance of developing a unified vision regarding the formulation of modern methods in employing future files and developing the infrastructure, whether it is sports facilities or future projects that serve segments of society.

This came during the 32nd meeting of the heads of the Olympic committees of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, which was held the day before yesterday using visual communication technology, and was inaugurated by the Vice President of the National Olympic Committee and Head of the Executive Office Hamid Al Qatami, considering the UAE the presidency of the current session.

Al-Qutami conveyed the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the National Olympic Committee, to the attendees, stressing His Highness’s keenness to provide all aspects of support to our athletes in various forums.

In his speech, Al-Qutami said: “Today, with all confidence and pride in the gains and successes of our sports sector, and the achievements of our sons and daughters, we all affirm our ability to pass this exceptional phase that the Olympic and sports movement is going through worldwide, thanks to what is provided by their Majesties and Highnesses, leaders of the Cooperation Council for the Gulf States. The Arab world of unlimited support and unparalleled interest in the sport sector in the GCC countries, which doubles the size of the responsibilities on all of us to translate that high interest into results and figures honorable for our sport in major international and continental forums ».

The attendees were briefed on a strategic plan for developing joint work in the sports field, and it was agreed to postpone the implementation of the action plan to be from 2021, for a period of five years, due to the current circumstances related to "Covid-19", and to raise the strategic plan for developing joint work in the sports field. (2021-2026) for the Supreme Council, and recommending accreditation.

Virtual sports development

The Executive Office of the Olympic Committee Heads of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf has approved the development of virtual sports, provided that it is placed on the agenda of the sports tournaments in the future.
