Frida Karlsson opened briskly in the introduction and after three kilometers of riding had caught up with the Finn Krista Pärmäkoski.

- It is completely incomparable, Frida Karlsson is knocking, says Jacob Hård.

At six kilometers, Karlsson had shaken off the Finnish Pärmäkoski.

But then Therese Johaug came with speed and took over the lead by just over five seconds.

"Had to pay a price"

At 8.1 km, it looked tough for Karlsson who struggled with the ride.

- She has had to pay a price for her optimistic opening, says Hård.

When Karlsson went over the finish line, she did it as number one in the time 25: 23.2, with a lead of 23 seconds on Kerttu Niskanen - who previously had the lead.

Therese Johaug won by 21 seconds

But that would not be enough against the Norwegian giant Johaug - who won by a full 22 seconds ahead of Karlsson.

- Big margin against the Swedish onslaught, but Frida makes a superb race, says Anders Blomquist.

Karlsson finished second, four seconds ahead of Ebba Andersson who finished in third place.
