More than four years after retiring from the Swedish national team, soccer star Zlatan Ibrahimovic met with national coach Janne Andersson for talks.

The two discussed Ibrahimovic's recently expressed interest in playing for the selection again, as the Swedish Football Association announced on Thursday evening.

For this, Andersson traveled to Milan, where 39-year-old Ibrahimovic plays for AC Milan.

"When Zlatan opened up to play in the national team again, it felt natural and important to meet and discuss it as soon as possible," Andersson was quoted in a statement from the association.

"The meeting was very good and productive, and we agree that we will continue the dialogue."

A few days ago, Ibrahimovic was named Sweden's “Footballer of the Year” for the twelfth time and for the first time since 2016.

In an interview he said that he missed the national team.

At the beginning of November, he posted a picture of himself in the national shirt on Twitter.

Then Andersson was also open to the possibility of a return for the first time.

The striker has not played for the Swedes since the European Football Championship in 2016.

With 62 goals in 116 full international matches, he is the Swedish record shooter.

After the European Championship, Andersson took over the Swedish selection, and since then he has been sharply criticized by Ibrahimovic several times.

Sweden qualified second in their qualifying group for the European Championship next year.

Even at almost 40, “Ibrakadabra” still delivers amazing performances.

For Milan, the striker has scored ten goals in six league games and is currently the top scorer in Serie A.

The Swede is currently out with a muscle injury in his thigh.
