“SEI YOUNG KIM NO LONGER AN OVERLOOKED SUPERSTAR” This

is the title of the column posted on the LPGA Tour official website after Kim Se-young won the LPGA Tour Pelican Championship on Monday (Korean time) and won two seasons.

It is said that Kim Se-young, who has been'underestimated' compared to the leading superstars even though she has consistently achieved good grades on the LPGA tour, finally got rid of the'shade' that masked her'greatness'.

As in the LPGA column, Kim Se-young earned more than 1 win every year, starting with 3 wins in her first year of debut in 2015, and earned 10 wins in total for 5 years until last year.

However, it is true that the superstars who commanded the LPGA tour during this period, such as Park Inbi, Lydia Go, Eriya Chutanukan, Park Sung-hyun, and Ko Jin-young, were relatively less illuminated.

The ‘2%’ that Kim Se-young has been disappointed with was that he did not have a ‘major championship’ and that he never received a major personal award for the season other than the rookie king in 2015. Soon after, he won the next competition and took the lead in all three major personal categories, including the season prize money, player of the year, and average at-bats.

I heard the story of Kim Se-young, who opened his heyday.

"I am surprised and amusing myself because I will win again immediately after winning the major competition. I went back to the competition after coming to Korea, so I just thought that it would be good to maintain a good sense of the game, but I am so happy and thankful that I was able to win this way. ."

Q. Season's'Triple Crown' (three crowns in major categories) came into the line of sight?

"It's a title that all players want, and it's a goal that I want to do so much, but I hope I can achieve my goal by doing well until the end."

Q. What if you pick one of the three categories that you really don't want to miss?

"I'm greedy in all three categories, but I want to win the Player of the Year award among them."

Last year, the world's No. 1 player Jin-young Ko, the first Korean player to win the season prize money, player of the year, and the lowest batting award (bear trophy), was the first Korean player to achieve the ‘Triple Crown’.

(In the prize money and Player of the Year category, Kim Se-young is leading, and'Golf Empress' Park In-bi is in a fierce competition.)

Kim Se-young also revealed his goal to rise to the top of the world rankings within this year.

Kim Se-young, who jumped to 2nd place, the highest ranking ever with a major victory last month, narrowed the gap with Jin-young Ko, who was ranked 1st by winning the Pelican Championship.

(1.03 points difference last week → 0.41 points difference this week)

<Women's Golf World Ranking> (November 23rd)

1st place Jinyoung Ko (7.79 points)

2nd place Seyoung Kim (7.38 points)

3rd place Nelly Corda (6.59 points)

"Actually this year's goal Was to compete in the Tokyo Olympics and get good results, but since the Olympics were inevitably postponed, I thought that I had to set a new goal myself. I decided to create a goal that could motivate myself, so I decided on the world rankings. I was going to try to get to No. 1, but the opportunity came sooner than I thought, and I think I'm very close now. Since the opportunity came, I want to achieve my goal and finish the season before the end of this season.”

Q. What does it mean to me to be'#1 in the world ranking'?'

"The number one in the world ranking...'Wow! I've become the world's number one!'

It's not just about becoming the world's number one like this, but I think it's more important how long I can keep it and overcome my limitations. Maybe I should try this (world number 1) and I feel like there's a next level. ."

Kim Se-young, who is called the'Mage of Red Pants', became a hot topic in this final round of the Pelican Championship by wearing a red skirt instead of red pants.

"In fact, pants are more comfortable. But since I kept wearing a skirt for this competition, I just wanted to try it on the last day, but it wasn't worse than I thought. I think it might be a little awkward for the people you see. As you see, I wear a skirt. I was okay. There was a feeling of wanting to change my style a little."

The LPGA Tour now has only 3 tournaments left this season, but Kim Se-young does not participate in the Volunteers of America Classic in early December, but the US Women's Open, a major tournament held from December 10, and the CME Group Tour Championship, the season's final opening on the 17th. I am going to participate in.

The most prestigious major competitions and the highest prize money competitions are ahead, the two biggest competitions of the year.

Kim Se-young's 3 seasons and the world's No. 1 challenge depend on his performance in the remaining two competitions.

“I am so grateful that I can participate and play in the tournament in such a difficult situation with Corona 19. We also have a big idea of repaying in our best form, and good energy with good grades for many people in Korea. I hope you are always healthy, take care of yourself, and do not lose your laughter even in difficult situations."
