The ongoing pandemic has had a major impact on this year's list of the most described sports profiles in the Swedish media.

Corona or covid-19 have been mentioned in every fourth sports article in 2020.

- It has been a special year, says Jenny Wikstrand, media analyst at Retriever, the company that compiles statistics on how often Swedish sports profiles are mentioned in the Swedish editorial media.

- Two trotting drivers take a place in the top 20, it is quite telling that this is the case.

As the trotting sport has rolled on despite the corona, they have received many articles.

The statue contributed

But neither Björn Goop, Daniel Redén, nor anyone else controls Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the list that Retriever produces in collaboration with TT Nyhetsbyrån.

The superstar is back in first place, after the last two years were beaten down by first the national football team's national team captain Janne Andersson (2018) and then the ski star Charlotte Kalla (2019).

- Zlatan has an ability to be relevant in so many different ways, says Wikstrand.

During the year, Ibrahimovic has been successful in Milan but has also been in the spotlight due to the statue depicting him, his investment in Hammarby, various initiatives on social media and his positive corona test.

During the measurement period, 24,372 articles were published about the 39-year-old superstar, which is almost 11,000 more than his listing last year.

- A large part of the articles are not linked to the purely football-related, although of course it is still connected, says Wikstrand.

Lind top ten

New to the list this year is Amanda Lind (MP).

The Minister of Culture and Sports enters in tenth place, ahead of stars such as Daniel Ståhl, Stina Nilsson and Dejan Kulusevski.

- In the articles, she is often reactive and says, for example, that she should come back with answers to various questions, so then she may be perceived as a little more of an extra.

Last year, the list was topped by Charlotte Kalla, while Kosovars Asllani, Hanna Öberg, Hedvid Lindahl, Ebba Andersson and Nilla Fischer also parked in the top ten.

This year, Kalla is the best woman in third place.

- The gender division has become subordinate to the corona pandemic, you could say, says Jenny Wikstrand.
