Sarah Sjöström finished the final in ISL, International swimming league, yesterday and her team Energy Standard, which last year won the competition, finished second behind the winning Cali Condors and individually finished the Swede in fifth place overall.

- As life is right now, you do not have so many plans, you take it one day at a time.

I start by going home and taking it easy and then you get to see what you do next week.

It is still a pandemic that is going on right now so you can take it easy, says Sjöström.

The 27-year-old, who traveled to the "swimming bubble" in Budapest on October 12, says that the corona-adapted competitions have been an important experience.

- Of course it feels great to be able to come home again after six weeks, but it was incredibly fun to be a part of this experience in Budapest.

Getting to test and live in a bubble was really an important experience.

It feels like many sporting events, and especially the Olympics, may be like this in a bubble, says Sjöström, who says that it has worked beyond expectations.

- In any case, this competition has given a lot of energy and it feels very nice to have had the chance to compete this year.

Femma - despite back problems

Last year, Sarah Sjöström won the MVP title under ISL.

This year, she finished fifth overall individually, despite missing an entire race due to back problems.

- Three weeks ago I did not know if I could stay or not - but I could stay and compete and came fifth in the total even though I missed one of the competitions.

So I have to be really happy with that anyway, says Sjöström.

The Olympics in Tokyo are planned to be inaugurated in 241 days and in a normal season, the Swedish world star had a strict plan and knew in detail both where she will train and compete until the Olympics.

Now the reality is completely different.

Before ISL, Sjöström had not competed since January.

- It is clear that it would have been optimal to have a planning but it is not possible now so it is just a matter of adapting to how the situation is right now.

I just hope that I can train and stay healthy and then we will see what competitions I do, she says.
