FC Volendam suffered an expensive loss of points on Friday in the battle for the top places in the Kitchen Champion Division.

The team from Volendam had to settle for a 1-1 draw against TOP Oss in-house.

FC Volendam took the lead halfway through the first half by a nice free kick from Dean James, but failed to pull the 1-0 over.

Dennis van der Heijden hit the header fifteen minutes before the end on behalf of TOP Oss.

As a result, FC Volendam remains the number five in the ranking.

The orange shirts are six points behind leader SC Cambuur, which won the top match on Thursday at number two De Graafschap (0-2).

Number six NEC did not benefit from FC Volendam's slip.

The team from Nijmegen drew 1-1 at home against Roda JC, which was on the field for half an hour with a man less due to a red card for Roland Alberg.

NEC fell behind before half time due to a ticker by Kees Luijckx and in the 78th minute tied the score thanks to a header from Thomas Beekman.

NEC then got the chance to score 2-1, but Syb van Ottele missed a penalty.
