The Finnish players in Luleå, who were not allowed to enter Sweden due to the corona pandemic, were back in the team before the match against Modo.

The home team Modo, on the other hand, had to come to shots without important players, where both suspensions and cold symptoms put sticks in the wheel.

Modo stood up well in the first

Modo, who played from last season, resisted well in the first period.

But with three minutes left of the first, Petra Nieminen scored her ninth goal of the season when she gave Luleå the lead.

- We have become a year older and richer in experience.

We learned a lot last year, we are both physically and mentally stronger now, Modo player Sofia Engström explains in SVT's broadcast.

In the second period, Luleå got off to a good start, which only 49 seconds into the period, increased to 2-0 via Viivi Vainikka.

Then it was Luleå for all the money

Nieminen scored her second goal of the match when she made it 3-0 against a Modo who started to look tired on the ice.

Just minutes later, Vainikka would also be a two-goal scorer when she beautifully gave Luleå a 4-0.

Not only that, Michela Cava scored her 14th goal of the season when she netted 5-0 in the final minutes of the period.

Despite the great lead, Emma Nordin was not entirely satisfied with Luleå's performance.

- We should be pretty much better, we had a good trend before the national team break, then we were on our way up to the level we know we can play, says Nordin.

Although Nathalie Lidman reduced for her Modo at the beginning of the third period but Luleå responded by making it 6-1 a few minutes later.

Luleå won the match 6-1 and thus extends the league lead in SDHL.
