The accident occurred at the beginning of the third period.

Linköping's Hampus Larsson broke into the rim when he tried to stop Frölunda's Lucas Raymond.

Larsson could not continue playing but was helped by the ice.

"Will not give any future but"

He was examined at the hospital and there was found a neck injury, Linköping writes on its website.

- When I came up to the hospital, they x-rayed my neck and then saw that some of the vertebrae were damaged.

This meant that there was surgery on Sunday and then they went in and fixed these vertebrae.

The surgery went well.

The message from the doctors is that the injury will not give any future but and I will be able to be completely restored.

I want to take the opportunity to say that the staff at the hospital who have helped me have been fantastic, says Larsson.

He hopes to return home from the hospital soon.

- The rehabilitation may take the time required, but I expect to be away from training for a number of months, he says.
