Monaco striker Wissam Ben Yedder tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday and had to forfeit matches in Portugal on Saturday and against Sweden on Tuesday in the League of Nations.

“His Covid-19 test ordered by UEFA on Thursday morning turned out to be positive, Wissam Ben Yedder did not participate in training, late Thursday afternoon, at the Stade de France.

He was placed in solitary confinement in the early evening, ”the Federation said in a statement.

The player, holder on Wednesday in a friendly during the defeat of the French against Finland (2-0), was not replaced two days before the duel at the top in Portugal, where the Blues will aim for victory and qualification for the phase Nations League final.

Due to UEFA's protocol, which allows matches to be held as long as a team can field "at least thirteen players" including a goalkeeper, the meeting scheduled for Saturday at the Luz stadium is not called into question.

The list is already long

The management of the Blues said that AS Monaco had been made aware of this positive test.

This follows an episode that occurred in September for the positive test of Kylian Mbappé, which angered PSG sporting director Leonardo, who complained that he had heard the news from the press.

The Blues have been largely affected by positive tests for Covid-19 since the start of the school year: Paul Pogba, Steve Mandanda, Houssem Aouar, Léo Dubois and therefore Mbappé were notably affected, while Adrien Rabiot had been delayed in October because of 'solitary confinement in his Turin club.
