"Vida will, in accordance with the rules, spend the next few days in quarantine in Istanbul," the Croatian Football Association writes on its website.
The 31-year-old played from the start in Croatia's training match against Turkey, 3-3, on Wednesday night after being tested negative for the corona virus on Monday.
But Wednesday's test was positive.
The Croatian national team received a preliminary announcement about this at half time and Vida did not play the second half.
At midnight, the positive test was then confirmed.
