The head of the Basketball Association Board Elections Committee, Mohamed Saleh, revealed that December 24 will be the date for the "Electoral General Assembly" to be held in the closed list system, during which the identity of the Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of the Basketball Association will be determined in its new format for the 2020-2024 electoral cycle.

Saleh stressed that tomorrow is the deadline for closing the door for candidacy for the post of president, and the beginning of next month is the date for closing the door for candidacy for the membership position.

Saleh said to "Emirates Today": The Election Commission has finished scheduling the dates for the legal session for the elections, and the timetable includes nine stations, starting with addressing clubs to nominate their representatives for the position of president, and closing the door for candidacy tomorrow, then between the 15th and 17th of this month to study candidates' applications and matching them with standards. The final list will be announced on the 18th of the same month, and the door will be opened for clubs and their candidates for appeals.

Regarding the preliminary list of candidates for the position of president, he said: We are awaiting the receipt of all closed circumstances from the Federation Secretariat to announce the final list.

However, he said that according to preliminary data, the list is currently limited to a single candidate, represented by the current president of the federation, Major General Ismail Al-Gergawi.
