- The European Football Championships are among the biggest unifying events in our time and part of the world.
Everyone from those deeply interested in football to those who love to experience our Swedish national team in the largest possible context gather around a European Championship, says SVT's media director Jan Helin.

- Creating shared experiences is at the core of our public service mission, therefore it is extremely gratifying that we can offer the audience this party in collaboration with TV4.
SVT could not carry such a large right themselves, we need to cooperate.
Mbappé and Kulusevski
Football is the most popular sport in Sweden today and the European Football Championship and the World Cup are the most watched sports championships on Swedish television.
- There are very many exciting young football players out in Europe who will be at the peak of their careers when it's time for these championships.
I am thinking of stars like Kylian Mbappé, Marcus Rashford and not least Dejan Kulusevski in the Swedish national team, says SVT's sports director Åsa Edlund Jönsson.
- I am incredibly happy that for several years now we will be able to gather all TV viewers in front of TV broadcasts with Sweden's most popular national team.
Broadcasts five football championships
With the acquisition of the European Championships in 2024 and 2028, it is now clear that SVT will broadcast live from five football championships over the next eight years.
Next summer, SVT and TV4 will broadcast from the European Championships for men who were to be decided in 2020 but who have been postponed for a year due to Corona.
