In a press release, RF writes that if the corona pandemic is prolonged and the crisis even deeper, at least SEK 500 million per quarter will be needed in 2021, which corresponds to the compensatory support for which sport has been granted this year.

RF has drawn the Minister of Sports' attention to this in a petition.

"My concern for public health increases the longer this pandemic lasts.

The signals from associations around the country are that we now with local advice not to train for those who are 16 years and older run a great risk of losing boys and girls from this group of older teenagers ", says RF chairman Björn Eriksson in a press release .

"When the sports movement can gradually return to everyday life, extra efforts and resources are needed to recapture those we have lost - but also to be able to restart and give new impetus to the entire sports strategy work."

RF believes that the development of the national economy together with restrictions is what will affect the sports movement the most in the next two years.

"We are very concerned that the municipal economy will deteriorate significantly, which risks that planned investments are suspended and municipal costs for sports and leisure are reduced to a minimum," says Eriksson.
