Swedish cross-country skier Jonna Sundling is currently charging for the premiere in Finnish Ruka 27-29 November.

But going out into a World Cup circus that right now seems to be going on in eight different countries during an ongoing pandemic makes Sundling worried.

Next week, information is expected from the Norwegian authorities on whether the VC competition in Lillehammer in December can be arranged.

Several profiles have criticized the International Ski Federation (Fis) and the competition schedule.

Among others, Norwegian star Maiken Caspersen Falla.

- They expose us practitioners and the support apparatus to extreme risk by running the current schedule.

It feels very offensive, and maybe a little naive, of Fis to run a regular calendar, she says.

"Feels uncomfortable"

Jonna Sundling now agrees.

- Quite honestly, I think it feels uncomfortable.

Especially now when it starts to inflate again and it has started to get very much out in Europe.

It does not feel so great.

I hope we can solve it in a good way, says Jonna Sundling about traveling around the competitions.

TT: Do you think that you skiers are listened to about your concerns?

- Yes, but I think so.

Everyone does the best they can to make it work.

I have to trust it.

Fis has said that the schedule may change.

Competitions can be moved or even deleted from the calendar, according to Fi's length manager Pierre Mignerey.

Skiers can be stopped

Constant testing, mouth protection and strict protocols are just some of the things that await during the season.

- It can probably take some focus in the beginning.

It is the same for everyone, but nothing will be as usual this season, you will have to think about it, says Sundling.

In addition, there may be a ban on entry in and for different countries.

Which means that skiers can be stopped from competing.

- It's not fair of course.

There will be no fun competitions either if not all countries can participate.

Cross-country skiing is not a huge sport, we have to include everyone to make it fun and interesting to watch.

It is important that many can participate, otherwise there will be no World Cup.
