Torbjörn Nilsson has long dreamed of taking the step away from the elite team and training ordinary teenage teams.

In the new TV series The goal is the goal, he tests his methods together with his coaching colleague Martin Johansson.

The training philosophy can be described as a middle ground: They do not want to tone down the competition, but neither do they want to top the team or engage in selection.

- We wanted to show that there is a way, it is not ugly to compete.

We can meet social goals and not disappoint the young people just because we want to win, says Torbjörn Nilsson.

- Football is a game and in that game you have to score goals, says Martin Johansson in The goal is the goal.

Got to work with the attitude

Coaching teenage teams was not as easy as he first thought.

- It was not a shrimp sandwich as we had imagined.

We had nights where we lay awake thinking about how we would make the group work and the children whine less.

Should you achieve results as many as you train the attitude first, says Torbjörn Nilsson.

Is this a way for you to criticize today's youth football?

- Well, but to make comments in any case.

Many start with detailed training for children.

But football does not have to be difficult.

It is about scoring goals and preventing goals, says Torbjörn Nilsson.

Torbjörn Nilsson is not allowed to reveal how it went for the team he coached before the series was broadcast.

But the young players from Ytterby IS in Kungälv have left their mark.

- They really stuck in the heart.

I have been and watched a couple of matches and have contact with the coaches, says Torbjörn Nilsson.
