Allvin has been in the Pittsburg organization since 2006 and worked as a scout, mainly keeping an eye on Europe.
For the past three years he has worked as a chief scout.
Prior to that, he worked as a scout for the Montreal Canadiens from 2002-2006.
In Sweden, Patrik Allvin comes from Falun, and has played one SHL season with Leksand and two Allsvenskan seasons in Mora.
Gets a big role
No Swede has previously had a major job in the NHL - and Allvin gets a big suit to fill, when he becomes General Manager Jim Rutherford's closest man.
- I will be responsible for many of our hockey departments.
We have one team in the NHL and one in the East Coast (ECHL).
In Pittsburgh, I will be involved in everything that happens and make sure that we always have players who appear in our "pipeline", says Patrik Allvin to Aftonbladet.
