PSG will travel to RB Leipzig on Wednesday evening, which they beat in the semi-finals of the last edition, for an already crucial match for qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League.

But the Parisians will have to compose without Neymar or Kylian Mbappé, both injured.

PSG already has no room for error.

The Parisians travel to the RB Leipzig lawn on Wednesday evening, on the third day of the group stage of the Champions League, with the obligation to obtain a result so as not to compromise their qualification for the knockout stages.

With three points each, the two teams are indeed fighting for one of the two tickets for the rest of the competition.

But this meeting, which will also have the air of revenge a few months after the semi-final largely won by PSG in the last edition (3-0), promises to be delicate for the champions of France.

For this shock, the German coach Thomas Tuchel will indeed have to compose without his two stars Kylian Mbappé and Neymar, both injured, as the Argentine striker Mauro Icardi.

Mbappé, a new tile for PSG

Since its resumption on September 10, barely 18 days after the Champions League final lost in Lisbon, PSG has already played 12 games, plus three selection appointments for its internationals.

Or one game every 3.6 days on average.

Consequence: injuries accumulate.

Neymar was first injured last week, during the victory on the lawn of Istanbul Basaksehir (2-0).

Affected in the adductors, the Brazilian star will not be back until November 20.

Kylian Mbappé, who scored this weekend against Nantes (3-0), also forfeited due to hamstring discomfort.

Add to that the absence of striker Mauro Icardi, who is still complaining about the knee, and you have a largely plucked offensive sector.

"It is certainly not the worst time to play Paris SG, but we also have several injuries. Obviously, it is not a disadvantage for us that Mbappé and Neymar do not play, they are fantastic players", commented Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann.

"But PSG have other very good players, that many teams in Europe would like to have in their ranks", qualified the young German coach.

Without his two stars, the Parisians had defeated Real

Thomas Tuchel will therefore have to imagine an offensive organization without his two stars.

"We will try to play a game as a team, make more effort as a team. We must grow together in this situation," he said soberly at a press conference.

The German coach can in any case count on Angel Di Maria, so often precious and decisive in the Champions League.

He should also align in attack the Spaniard Pablo Sarabia and the young Italian Moise Kean, who scored twice in Istanbul a week ago and who has already successfully integrated since his arrival this summer.

The Parisians will be able to draw on the example of last year, when they had brilliantly passed their first test of the season without Neymar or Mbappé.

PSG launched its historic 2019-2020 campaign with a show of force against Real Madrid (3-0) in pools, during an evening where Idrissa Gueye and Angel di Maria, both present against Leipzig, had shone.

If they had the good idea to do it again, their trainer Thomas Tuchel would not complain.

Rennes are also playing big at Chelsea.

Conquering a first victory in the Champions League without the jewel Eduardo Camavinga, injured, this is the mission of Stade Rennes on Wednesday on Chelsea.

An impossible mission?

Maybe not, but it would be a huge achievement for sure.

Rennes has only one point for the moment, after a draw against Krasnodar and a defeat against Sevilla FC.

A defeat would mean the likely end of their (meager) qualifying hopes for the round of 16.
