Atletico Madrid announce the contract with Condopia from Valencia

Spanish club Atletico Madrid announced today that it has signed a contract with the central African player, Geoffrey Condopia, from Valencia in a four-year deal.

"Atletico Madrid reached an agreement with Valencia for the transfer of Geoffrey Kondogbia," the capital club said in a statement, after he passed medical tests.

The club did not mention the value of the deal, except that specialized media reports indicated that it amounted to nearly 15 million euros.

"After three wonderful years during which I defended this shirt, it is time for me to take on a new challenge," Kondopia, 27, said in a post on his Instagram account.

"During the three years we have experienced many beautiful things in a country where it is difficult to achieve titles," he added.

The contract with the former French international to compensate for the departure of the Ghanaian Thomas Partey, who was transferred at the beginning of the season from the Argentine coach Diego Simeone's booklet to Arsenal, England, for 50 million euros, comes on the last day of the transfer market on the fourth of last October.

This allowed Atletico to get an extra month to sign a player from a club competing in the domestic league.

The former Inter player will have to wait a bit for his first match with the Spanish champion in 2016, after he missed his team's last two matches in addition to the last two training sessions due to heel pain.

The former Monaco player attacked Valencia’s management and Singaporean president, Anil Murthy, through his Instagram account last October, after his transfer to Atletico failed in the summer transfer market.
