Masae Ueno, the second consecutive champion of the Judo Women's Olympics, was directed by Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd. at 14:35 on November 2nd.

Masae Ueno, who has won the Olympic Games for the second time in a row, will be appointed as the coach of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance, a female powerhouse who has produced many medalists in the Olympic judo.

The Mitsui Sumitomo Women's Judo Club includes Chizuru Arai, who has been appointed as a representative of the women's 70 kg class at the Tokyo Olympics.



Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd. announced on the 2nd that Masae Ueno will be appointed as a new director from the 1st of next month.



New director Ueno is 41 years old from Hokkaido.



Both are the eldest daughters of the "Ueno Three Sisters" who have made achievements in international competitions. At the Olympic Games, they won gold medals in the women's 70kg class for the second consecutive time since the 2004 Athens Games, and retired from active duty in 2009.



I have been a coach of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance since 2018.



With the appointment of new coach Ueno, Hisashi Yanagisawa, who has served as a coach for more than 30 years and raised six Olympic medalists, will retire and support the new coach.



New coach Ueno commented, "I want to take on new challenges and build new traditions while connecting traditions. I want to make use of my experience at the Olympics for the Tokyo Olympics."
