Barcelona mourns former Cruyff and Koeman assistant

Spanish football club Barcelona mourned Tony Bruns Slot, the former assistant coach of the Catalan team, who died at the age of 73.


Barcelona said through his official account on the "Twitter" social networking site: "We regret the announcement of the great loss that befell us with the death of Tony Bruns Slot at the age of 73, a former assistant coach in the coaching staff during the tenure of Johan Cruyff as coach of the team."


Brunes joined Cruyff's assistant coaching staff in 1988, where he participated in many accomplishments with the Catalan team, such as winning the European Champions League in 1992, the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1989 and the European Super Cup 1992, and he was also present at Barcelona's coronation with the Spanish League title four Times, cup once and Spanish Super Cup twice.


Brunes previously worked as an assistant with the current Barcelona coach, Ronald Koeman, in the Dutch clubs Ajax, Eindhoven, Benfica of Portugal and Valencia.


The last position Brunes held in his career was that of Head of Scouts at Ajax Amsterdam, where he had worked in this position since 2010.
