Today, the International Athletics Federation released the nominations for the award as male athlete of the year.

Two of the ten nominees were Swedes: Armand Duplantis and Daniel Ståhl.

Pole vault giant Duplantis set a new world record twice (6.17 and 6.18) and did not lose a single competition.

Ståhl won 17 of the 19 discus competitions he competed in and threw the longest throw of the year, 71.37.

The winner will be presented at a gala on 5 December.

Representatives of various athletics federations as well as supporters can vote, in different ways.
