In September 2019, it became clear that Glenn Solberg would succeed Kristjan Andrésson as the national team captain for the Swedish national team.

However, he has had to wait for his debut, as the corona pandemic just over six months ago put an end to the entire sports world.

Two goalkeepers injured

Next week, however, it's time, when there are European Championship qualifiers against Romania and Kosovo.

Then, however, he is forced to spare both the regular goalkeepers.

Mikael Appelgren disappeared a few weeks ago with a shoulder injury, and today came the news that Andreas Palicka is injured in the knee and misses the matches as well.

- Terrible, boring and sad, of course.

It is very sad for him, me and the national team.

Now we have both "The Apple" and "Palle" away from the European Championship qualifiers, so it is very, very unfortunate and sad, says Solberg to SVT Sport.

"Very professional"

However, Solberg is convinced that both star goalkeepers will come back in a good way.

- They are very professional and train in a good way and will come back even stronger, he says.

The prognosis for Palicka is that he will be gone for six to eight weeks.

The World Cup in Egypt starts in eleven weeks, but Solberg says he is not at all worried that Palicka will miss that championship.

- No, I think that if he trains well and gets a good treatment, he will be back in six weeks, and it is another couple of weeks until the World Cup in January, so I think he will probably make it.
