Today, the Italian government decided to cancel its previous decision, which was issued last month, that fans attend sporting events in the country, which was allowed to a maximum of 1,000 spectators.

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte presented the ministerial decree, which will come into effect tomorrow, Monday, until next November 24, as the country is striving to contain the second wave of the Coronavirus pandemic, which recently caused nearly 20,000 new cases of infection.

The decree stipulates that only professional sports, and those taking place under the auspices of the Italian Olympic Committee and international events, can continue to be held "behind closed doors inside facilities or in open spaces without spectators."

Italy went into a lockdown during the period from March until last May, and fans were not allowed to attend at first when the sports tournaments resumed their competitions last June.

The Italian Football League season 2019/2020 was completed in empty stadiums early August, but a maximum of 1,000 spectators were allowed to watch matches when the new season began on September 20.
