It was eight minutes into yesterday's match that Jack Drury had an elbow tackle in the back of his head behind the goal.

After the match, the so-called situation room reported the incident to the Swedish Ice Hockey Association's disciplinary committee.

They have now chosen to suspend Abols for three matches, and fine him with SEK 6,250.

"Intentional elbow tackling"

They list four key factors in their decision.

  • It is a deliberate elbow tack on the head

  • The tackle is from behind on a player who is already courted and unable to defend himself

  • Harmful

  • Relatively low power
