While nine of its players have tested positive for Covid-19, the Montpellier handball club (Hérault) has obtained the postponement of its next two matches, against Saint-Raphaël and Magdebourg, we learned. Friday at the club.

The match against Saint-Raphaël, counting for the 6th day of the French championship, was initially scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

The double European champion was also to travel to Germany on Tuesday for the second day of the European League.

Five games late

Following the tests carried out on Wednesday, the MHB had deplored eleven positive cases, including nine players from the professional workforce, a player from the training center and a member of the technical staff.

According to the rules of the National League (NHL), any team must be able to have twelve professional players, including a goalie, to play.

Last week, MHB, faced with a first wave of six positive cases, was forced to give up playing its championship match in Istres and the opening match in the European Cup against Moscow.

Patrice Canayer's team, who has not played since October 11 and the draw conceded against Nantes (27-27), will thus be five games late in all competitions.
