On Thursday, the government held a press conference, which included Prime Minister Stefan Löfven and Minister of Culture and Democracy Amanda Lind (MP).

The government announced there that they are opening up to more audiences in sports arenas, from today's 50 people to 300 people.

But in Skåne, the limit of 50 people can remain.

- Considering the strong spread of infection that is currently taking place in Skåne, we at Smittskydd Skåne believe that it is the wrong time to raise the ceiling, says Skåne's infection control doctor Eva Melander to Sydsvenskan.

"Describes the seriousness"

The government's new rules apply from 1 November, but there are opportunities for the county administrative boards to decide on local regulations.

- No decision has been made yet, but if it is necessary, we are prepared to decide at the end of next week to keep the audience ceiling of 50 people, says Ola Melin, director general at the County Administrative Board in Skåne, and explains that in that case it would be the first time that the county administrative board decides on local regulations.

- We have not previously considered that possibility.

But when we now talk to Smittskydd Skåne and they describe the seriousness, we start a case about a possible decision.

And it is important to signal it early so that not all organizers start selling tickets and preparing.
