PSV started the group stage of the Europa League on Thursday evening with a defeat.

Despite a goal from Mario Götze, coach Roger Schmidt's team lost 1-2 against Granada in the Philips Stadium.

Götze opened the score for PSV just before half time and already scored his second goal in Eindhoven service.

Last weekend, the German midfielder livened up his debut with the opening goal against PEC Zwolle (0-3 win).

In the second half, Granada turned the gap into a lead.

Jorge Molina took care of the equalizer twelve minutes after the break and Darwin Machis made the 1-2 halfway through the second half.

Cody Gakpo, Pablo Rosario, Eran Zahavi and Jordan Teze were missing at PSV due to corona infections.

As a result, Mohamed Ihattaren and Jorrit Hendrix were once again in the base.

The next group match is scheduled for PSV next Thursday.

Then on Cyprus is played against Omonia Nicosia.
