World champion Julian Alaphilippe crashed in the Tour of Flanders on Sunday crashing into a race bike as he was isolated up front with two huge favorites Wout van Aert and Mathieu van der Poel.
The French puncher went over his bike, falling heavily on his back, after hitting an organization's motorcycle 35 kilometers from the finish in Oudenaarde, south of Ghent.

While competing for the first time in the Tour of Flanders, his last race of the season, the wearer of the rainbow jersey remained on the ground for a long time, treated by a medical team, and appeared to be suffering from his right arm.

He had gone on the offensive 4 kilometers earlier, followed by Dutch champion Mathieu van der Poel and then joined by Belgian Wout van Aert, winner of Milan-Sanremo.
The bike, the trio of which followed in the wake, decelerated in a straight line.
Van der Poel avoided her at the last moment but Alaphilippe did not see her and could not avoid the collision.
