Al Wasl Football Company decided yesterday to dispense with the services of Romanian coach Laurent Regicamp, becoming the first coach to leave the Arab Gulf League, while the national coach Salem Rabie will take over the leadership of the "Emperor" training on a temporary basis, until a new coach is contracted.

The company announced, on its official account on the social networking site "Twitter", that it had agreed to the resignation of the Romanian coach, which he submitted to the company's management, following a meeting that its members held with Rijekamp yesterday, at the club's headquarters in Zabeel.

She said in a press statement: "The resignation came based on the agreement of the two sides, and after the stumbling start that the team achieved in the first round of the Arab Gulf League by losing to Bani Yas by four goals to one."

She added: "The Al Wasl football company thanked the technical director, Rijicamp and his assistant, for the efforts they made throughout the previous period in which the coach had led the team since the middle of the season before last, and for the pursuit of the desired goals."

For his part, the Romanian coach, Regicamp, thanked the Al Wasl administration for the period he spent at the club, and for the great response and cooperation he had enjoyed since assuming the task, until the moment the agreement between the two sides ended.

The Al Waslawi Football Company stated that it had been decided to assign the citizen coach Salem Rabie to lead the team’s training during the coming period, until an agreement and contract was concluded with the new coach who would succeed Rijekamp at the head of the Emperor’s technical staff.

It is noteworthy that Al Wasl started the season with a 2-1 victory over Al Wahda in the first leg of the Arabian Gulf Cup, while it suffered a big loss at home to Bani Yas 4-1 in the first round of the league.

The Romanian coach has led Al Wasl since mid-season before last.
