It was two bottom teams with opposite form curves during the season that settled on the Students' IP on Saturday afternoon.

IK Uppsala started its first year in the damallsvenskan briskly with a home victory against Djurgården in the premiere but has since slowly but surely lost ground.

Uppsala came to the bottom meeting with Växjö with ten straight losses and only a total of six goals scored in those matches in the bag.

The guests lined up losses from the start, were zeroed forward nine times during the summer but then reversed the trend in September and had won three of their last four league matches before Saturday.

Greater self-confidence

When the bottom meeting was underway, it seemed early on that Växjö had the better self-confidence and the slightly higher speed in the passing game in itself and already after six minutes, Växjö's outer midfielder Amanda Johnsson Haahr was close to the match's first goal when she met the crossbar behind Emma Holmgren.

The goal was instead in the 27th minute when Växjö exposed one of the home team's bigger Achilles heels - the defense.

Uppsala had conceded a total of 41 goals before the match, by far the most of all teams this season.

Now Växjö's Ria Öling could run from her courtship towards the penalty area where Signe Holt Andersen waited at a gap at the penalty point and relatively undisturbed had to finish in the left corner to 1-0.

Such chances must not be given to Växjö's internal shooting queen, who now scored her sixth goal of the season.

Fraine kept a clean sheet

In the second half, it was a more desperate IK Uppsala who tore and tore to turn the match around and create hope, but Växjö's goalkeeper Katlynn Fraine held the zero back while Amanda Johnsson Haahr finally got to cheer after 2-0 in the 86th minute.
