It was unexpected.

This Friday, during a press point devoted to the evolution of the health crisis, the prefect Michèle Kirry made the news official.

Tuesday evening, 5,000 people can be welcomed at Roazhon Park for the first Champions League match at Stade Rennais.

A decision motivated in part by the drop in the incidence rate of Covid-19 in recent days in Ille-et-Vilaine.

Thursday evening, the club had yet made it known that only 1,000 people would be authorized due to restrictions linked to the Covid-19 epidemic.

The Rennes metropolitan area has been classified as an enhanced alert zone since September 23, but not affected by the curfew in force in most major French metropolitan areas.

During the day, the Breton club had left hope to the supporters, citing a postponement of the opening of the ticket office this Saturday at 10 am and "good news to come".

The choice of the Prefect of Ille-et-Vilaine is surprising since the texts provide for a capacity of 1,000 people at most in enhanced alert zones.

UEFA, for its part, authorized a tonnage of 30% of the maximum capacity in the stadiums, leaving the last word to the local authorities.
