He is no longer very far from the top step of the podium.
Neymar became the Brazil squad's 2nd top scorer on Tuesday with 63 goals, scoring twice for his 103rd cap against Peru in Lima.
The PSG player thus exceeds Ronaldo.
Pele objective
The striker scored his two goals from the penalty spot (28th, 84th), on behalf of the second day of South American qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Ronaldo 'Fenomeno' counter had stopped at 62 goals in 98 games, two of them in the World Cup final against Germany in 2002. In the celebration of his first goal of the night, Neymar paid homage to the one who is now third in the ranking, by showing his front teeth and by miming with his hands the number “9” worn by his elder brother during his heyday.

Above all, at 28, the crack of PSG can still dream of dethroning "King" Pelé, author of 77 goals in 92 games.
His first goal in selection dates back more than ten years, in August 2010, from his first cap, against the United States.
