The European Union is considering the option of setting up the "Euro 2020" without an audience

In an interview today, UEFA President Alexander Severin said that there are many options being studied regarding the establishment of Euro 2020 next year, including holding the tournament without the presence of the public amid the Corona virus epidemic.

The president of the European Union told the "ARD" media network: "We have ideas about holding the tournament with an audience, without the audience, and 30, 50, 70 percent of the stadium capacity."

The European Nations Championship, which was to be held for the first time in 12 European cities, was postponed for a year to be held in the summer of 2021 due to the Corona virus epidemic.

Despite the increasing number of people infected with the virus across Europe, the plan to hold the championship across the selected cities remains in place.

"Currently we are planning the euro exactly as we wanted it," said Severin, who acknowledged the difficulties.

Severin was cautious when asked if the euro could follow the emergency formula followed by the European Champions League and European League last season, by holding competitions in one city within a "bubble".

Severin said UEFA is not considering this, but it could be done differently.

There are some countries that can host such an event in a short time, including Germany, which is hosting Euro 2024.
