The Australian team Mitchelton has announced its withdrawal from the Giro d'Italia because of several cases of Covid-19 detected in members of its management, Tuesday, before the start of the 10th stage in Lanciano.
On Saturday, the team had already announced the withdrawal of its runner Simon Yates, also tested positive for the coronavirus.
"With the health of the riders and staff being our priority, we withdrew from the Giro after the COVID-19 test results from the rest day, our third round of tests in 3 days showed positive results for some of our employees The team communicated on its Twitter account Tuesday.

In addition, two riders from two other teams, including the Dutchman Steven Kruijswijk (Jumbo), third in the Tour de France 2019, also tested positive during the operation carried out during the rest day and had to leave the race, have announced the International Cycling Union (UCI) and the Jumbo team.
