Frédéric Antonetti, who retired at the end of 2018 to accompany his wife suffering from a serious illness and who died in July, will resume his position as head coach of FC Metz and replace Vincent Hognon from Tuesday, announced Monday the Lorraine club of L1.

"When Frédéric wished in December 2018 to take a step back to accompany his wife, explains the president of the club Bernard Serin in a press release, we had agreed together that he would find his place as coach of the team when he felt that now is the right time.

This logic had been heard and shared by everyone within FC Metz, and it is this which has guided our sporting operations since then.

Today, it is therefore simply the natural continuation of this system: Frédéric is once again the head coach of our team.

"

Vincent Hognon, who has yet "perfectly assured the interim", on the other hand decided not to resume his previous duties as assistant coach.

The technician, who led the team when it was promoted to L1 in May 2019, will be leaving the club.

"I thank FC Metz for giving me the opportunity to live my first experience as a head coach in Ligue 1," he explains.

It was very enriching for me.

"

Antonetti will lead the Messins' training from Tuesday.
