The Los Angeles Lakers were crowned NBA champions for the 17th time in their history, tying the Boston Celtics' record, after beating the Miami Heat 106 to 93 on Sunday in the Disney World bubble in Florida.

LA, carried by its superstar LeBron James, whose 4th title in ten finals contested, won the 2020 edition four victories to two.

More than eight months after the accidental death of Kobe Bryant, who had brought the Californian club its previous trophy in 2010, the "King" kept his promise to bring the Larry O'Brien trophy back to the Violet and Or, in order to perpetuate his legend.

And thus enter in turn the hearts of fans.

A phenomenal triple double for James

In this N.6 match, the Lakers, more aggressive than ever in defense and skilful offensively, quickly folded the case, with up to 30 points in the first period and 38 in the second.

Opposite, the Heat obviously had more fuel in the tank after an intense and trying series, like Jimmy Butler, still courageous but without spring.

Quite the opposite of the "King" who remains at 35 the best player in the world.

To say that he was preponderant is an understatement, whether on the series or on this meeting, evidenced by his triple-double (28 points, 14 rebounds, 10 assists).

He was not alone.

Anthony Davis, who had revived a contusion in his right heel in the previous game, was not diminished.

He dominated in the racket and was still a very dissuasive bulwark (19 pts, 15 rebounds, 2 blocks).

The memory of Kobe carried them

And the second knives were very sharp this time, like Rajon Rondo, a real X factor with his 19 points (8/11) off the bench, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (17 points).

For the Heat, for which it was the sixth final in fifteen years (three were won in 2006, 2012, 2013), the last step was a little too high.

And this final defeat, quite severe, does not illustrate to what extent they were rivals for unwavering self-sacrifice in this final.

But 2020 was the year of the Lakers.

It started in tragedy, it ends in jubilation, at the end of a single season, the longest that the NBA has known, the most chaotic too, after four and a half months of interruption due to the coronavirus and in a climate of fight against racial injustice at its peak this summer.
