Britain's Hamilton equates Legend Schumacher's number with 91 victories

Six-time world champion and British Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton was crowned champion of the Eiffel Prize in the Formula 1 World Championship, which was held today at the German Nürburgring Circuit, to equal the German legend Michael Schumacher's record of 91 victories in the world of Grand Prix racing.

The seven-time German Schumacher world champion achieved his 91st victories in the world of Formula 1 racing during a bus career that spanned between 1991 and 2012. Equivalent to the record number of Grand Prix wins by Red Baron Schumacher.

Hamilton succeeded in replacing his second-place start, when on lap 13 he overtook his Finnish teammate Valtteri Bottas, and snatched the lead that Hamilton maintained until the end of the race, which lasted for 60 laps, while Dutch Red Bull driver Max Verstappen came second. Third place goes to Australian Renault driver Daniel Ricciardo.

With this victory, Hamilton strengthened his lead in the World Championship for the current season with 230 points, 69 points ahead of his Mercedes colleague Valtteri Bottas, who maintained second place, and the Dutch Red Bull driver Max Verstappen strengthened his third place in the world championship standings with 147 points.
