Thirteen hours, fifty minutes and forty-seven seconds of effort to rally the island of Saint Lucia to that of Martinique by swimming.

That is a distance of 40 kilometers, reports France Info Première.

The feat is all the greater since it is signed by a young man of only twelve years old.

Christophe Maleau left at 5:10 am, Saturday, from the bay of Saint Lucia to arrive at 7 pm in Sainte-Anne in Martinique.

A journey he made accompanied by his family, his club but also coaches, divers and doctors.

For pink October and her mother

He joined Jacques Sicot, Yann Richard and Gilles Rondy in the closed circle of those who succeeded in this crossing.

Christophe Maleau was swimming for Operation Pink October, an annual awareness campaign for breast cancer screening and for his mother, affected by this disease.

The Martiniquais was not his first challenge, specifies France Info Première.

In 2017, he had already swam 6.4 km between Anse Mitan in Trois-Îlets and the Frenchwoman in Fort-de-France, two towns in Martinique.

The following year he had covered the 26 kilometers which separate Le Diamant and Schœlcher, still in Martinique.

Christophe Maleau takes the plunge for his mother and women with cancer.

He took 13:50 to complete the 40-kilometer crossing between St. Lucia and #Martinique!
