It was a dark Sunday for FC Rosengård's damallsvenska team.

In the morning, the club announced that they had been able to establish cases of covid-19 among the "employees in the elite operations".

Nightmare start for Rosengård

Despite that, the match against Kristianstad was played as planned.

But even there, they suffered adversity.

Already after two minutes, Eveliina Summanen picked up a loose ball about ten meters outside the penalty area and struck on the first strike.

The ball found its way to the top left corner of the goal, but his header was tipped to a corner by the visitors' keeper.

Welin scored 2-0

Otherwise, the first half was almost exclusively Rosengård, who, however, did not manage to score a goal.

Rosengård did not start well in the second half either.

In the eighth minute of the half, a corner was nodded away at the post, but went straight to Anna Welin who put 2-0, past a chanceless Zecira Musovic who tangled in at the post when she tried to take the ball as her teammate nodded away at the corner.

Several hot chances

Rosengård was able to reduce just under a quarter of an hour later via Caroline Seger, and the final stage of the match was exciting.

Rosengård created plenty of hot chances, but good goalkeeper play by Brett Maron in combination with weak Rosengård finishes, meant that Kristianstad could win the match 2-1.

The loss and the fact that Gothenburg won against Uppsala means that Rosengård is now four points behind Gothenburg in the gold battle.

Four matches remain to be played, and SVT Sports expert Markus Johannesson believes that the gold battle was decided this day.

- Yes, I think so.

Had they got a point, I would not have thought it would have been decided.

But four points, that they should catch up, I think is unlikely, he says.
