Monza is added to the rally calendar

It will be an asphalt rally based on the Monza track outside Milan.

Since 1978, the rally has been run at Monza as a finish for various categories of motorists.

For example, moto-GP legend Valentino Rossi has won the rally seven times.

Now the rally is lifted into the World Cup calendar.

- It is the marriage between an iconic racing track and more traditional rally stages in the nearby landscape, says Yves Matton, chairman of the International Motor Sports Federation FIA (the organization that organizes the World Rally Championship).
