According to Aftonbladet, the contract is worth SEK 320 million, SEK 53 million per year, which makes the 30-year-old the highest paid Swedish goalkeeper in the NHL.

Markström is recruited as the club's first goalkeeper while David Rittich will guard the booth door.

Jacob Markström, who was raised in Brynäs, is joined in Calgary by another ex-Brynäs resident, Elias Lindholm, as well as the Swedes Rasmus Andersson and Mikael Backlund.
