Chelsea receives a heavy blow by injuring "Senegalese goalkeeper"

Senegalese and Chelsea goalkeeper Edouar Mendy was injured in the thigh during a training session with his country, the English capital club announced Friday.

Chelsea indicated that Mendy returned to London, where he will be supervised by the club's medical staff, and said in a statement on its official website: "The Senegalese Football Association announced the withdrawal of Edouar Mandi from his squad due to injury."

He added, "The goalkeeper was injured in his right thigh during training on Wednesday and underwent medical examinations in a Rabat hospital, where the Senegal team will play a match with its Moroccan counterpart this Friday evening," noting that "Mendy returned to Chelsea FC to undergo more checks."

Chelsea coach Frank Lampard hopes Mendy will recover from his injury and be ready for his team's next Premier League match against Southampton on October 17th.

Mendy joined Chelsea from Rennes, France, for $ 28 million, before the summer transfer window was closed on the fifth of the current year and played his first official match with him against Crystal Palace (4-0) last Saturday.
