Two months ago, ski legend Petter Northug was stopped by Norwegian police in a speed check after he drove 168 kilometers per hour on a 110 road.

This led to the police searching the star's home where they found cocaine.

Northug himself told about the incident via social media and later had a press conference where he spoke openly about his drug abuse.

- I need help, it has gone out of control, he said then.

"Got the spark back"

Now the Norwegian Dagbladet writes that 34-year-old Northug has regained his appetite for skiing and that he trains hard.

- What I have seen has been a Petter in a good mood.

He is very present and with a twinkle in his eye.

He has had a tough period;

now he hopes to get the sentence and start serving it.

He has gained distance to it and has got the spark back, says Joar Thele, long-distance skier in Team Ragde Eiendom, who has trained a lot with Northug recently.

Petter Northug ended his career almost two years ago.
